What a Global Volunteer project actually looks like
Week one: arrival and orientation
Most Global Volunteer projects open with a few days of orientation run by the host committee — covering safety briefings, an introduction to the host organization, and time to settle in before real project work starts.
Weeks two to five: the actual project
This is where the work happens. Depending on the project, that might mean running English classes, building out a community health awareness campaign, or supporting an environmental clean-up initiative — always alongside a local team, not instead of one.
Week six: handover and reflection
Every project closes with a handover — documenting what was done so the next volunteer team (or the host organization itself) can continue it — plus a reflection session on what you personally took from the experience.
